What does it mean?....absolutely nothing when it comes to taking care of yourself! Ultimately what it comes down to is that YOU are responsible for your own health. No one can do those sit-ups for you or run/walk that mile for you. You have to take the initiative, get yourself a personal trainer if you need to be motivated, just get moving! Look around, we have become a society of fatties. Really, it’s rather shocking. Open your eyes the next time you’re out in public and notice the changes around you. I remember as a kid really noticing when someone was overweight…why?...because it wasn’t the norm. I was just at the mall the other day and took the time to really pay attention to the people around me. I was truly shocked how at least half of the people were on the more fleshy side. I have a classmate who is only a few years older than myself…early 50’s. Guess what he has in-store for this next week? A triple bypass… He jokingly talks about no more cheeseburgers and fries, but I know he is a little scared to go through this surgery. I highly suspect his doctor has had a real sit down, serious discussion with him about his lifestyle and habits. How many of us want to reach the stage of needing surgery to clear out our arteries or to save our heart from completely failing? It’s never too late to start exercising and eating right…the key word is….START. Most humans like structure and routine, so organizing your life to include some physical activity should not be a hard thing to do. Quit making excuses for you lethargy. It’s amazing how energized you will feel once you implement some exercise, healthy eating, fresh air and proper rest into your lifestyle. You won’t need those rose-colored glasses or your favorite mirror to feel good about yourself. I’ve heard a phrase about eating lately that resounds with me…”Eating Clean”. What does that mean? Google it sometime and you will find a way of eating that is so simple. I challenge you to really evaluate yourself and make those changes to live a long and healthy life….starting TODAY.
